| Pakistan Day |

Pakistan Day is a momentous milestone in the history of Pakistan movement. This event is held to mark the anniversary of Pakistan Resolution passed by the Muslims of South Asia on March 23, 1940 at Minto Park (now Iqbal Park), Lahore. The resolution was presented by A. K. Fazlul Huq. The nation commemorates this day with great zeal and enthusiasm, to honor the most outstanding achievement of the Muslims of South Asia who passed the historic Pakistan Resolution resulting in the creation of Pakistan under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah; a homeland where they could live in peace, harmony and in accordance with the tenets of Islam.

The day dawns with the booming of a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salute in provincial capitals. Special prayers are held for solidarity and prosperity of Pakistan. Pakistan flag is hoisted on public and private buildings throughout the country and all Pakistanis missions abroad. Military parades are organized at provincial capitals and Islamabad that involve both military contingents, such as the Pakistan Armed Forces and Pakistan Paramilitary Forces, as well as civilian ones. A special investiture ceremony is also held in the Presidential Palace to bestow titles and awards to military and civilian recipients. A colourful parade of floats from different organizations are also arranged to celebrate the historic occasion. These floats represent the cultural heritage of the country.

The day is a general public holiday as people from all walks of life take part in different programmes to mark the occasion befittingly. Seminars and functions are organized to pay homage to the Father of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and poet philosopher Allama Muhammad Iqbal. Speakers highlight the sacrifices rendered by the people for the creation of a separate homeland for South Asian Muslims.
